The Common Core expects students to create, collaborate, communicate, and to think critically. This means our students need to use iOS apps in an innovative way to demonstrate their learning to think critically about the world around them. In addition, the power of student choice and the ability to share ones work with a larger audience than the teacher is of great importance. This session you will learn how to effectively create and sustain a culture of app smashing in your classroom.

Technology, is just like any other tool but the ability to transform learning lies in the hands of the educator who designs the learning experience using that technology. Educators often look for subject area apps and technology that provide content information or guided practice for student interaction. While activities such as these have their purpose, this session will encourage teachers to find, evaluate, and use open-ended creative technology to engage students in the process of learning rather than consumption of information. Ruben Peuntedura’s SAMR model indicates the level of student engagement when using technology to leverage learning success. In this session, participants will explore the SAMR model in different contexts, practice evaluating lessons based on their learning, and apply that learning to SAMRize their own lessons.
Using the iPad's settings, iMovie, Dragon Dictation, Grageband, notability, Book Creator and iBooks we will look at creating authentic speaking and listening activities that prepare students for the common core. The focus of this session will be English Learners and World Language.

This session will show you how to use freely available tools to create those videos, as well as share some best practices for creating effective and attractive videos. For Beginning teach users; addresses CCSS standards SL2, R7, R9, among others.
